We are off to a Great Start in Kindergarten! The first couple of weeks have been spent learning the school rules. We will continue to review our rules daily. Please help remind them of school rules at home also. Behavior is a huge part of our learning environment.
We have started learning sight words already! These words are seen in their reading books and daily work. Last week was “can” and “I.” This week we will focus on “like” and “am.” I am sending a ziplock bag with this year’s sight words. You may cut them out and make flashcards for your child. These words are very important. By the end of the year your child will be expected to read and write them independently.
Thanks for all your help at home!
Meet the Teacher is this afternoon from 4:00-5:00. I hope everyone can make it. I can’t wait to meet all my new students!!! I am ready for an Awesome year!
Grandparent’s Day is May 5 at 10:30 in the Elementary Gym. We would like to mail each grandparent an invitation. Please send a stamped self-addressed envelope for those you would like to invite.
If you have not already sent your $10 for your child’s t-shirt and costume expense, please do so as soon as you can. Thanks for all you do!
The spelling test will be next Friday, due to the Easter holiday. Their new sight words are is, it, like, little, and me. The bonus words are she and many. The kids are doing great on their tests! All of the spelling words are the Kindergarten sight words that they are responsible for knowing.
Our Easter Party will be on Thursday, April 13 at 11:00. Please send your child’s eggs with them by Wednesday if possible. There was an Easter note sent home last week with directions on how to fix your eggs and what snack your child is to bring. If you are not able to send these items, please let me know by Wednesday, so that I can get them. If you would like to set up for the party or help with hiding the eggs, please be here at 10:30. We appreciate all of your help! Your child may go home with you after the party. There will be a sign-out sheet in the classroom.
